What I'm hoping to do with blog is to showcase and highlight Open Source and freeware apps that I find useful or interesting. Ill be drifting into other areas of technology as and when the interest me...
Lets start with my hardware, so we know what we're dealing with.....
Desktop
Packard Bell (hmm..) P4 Prescott 3.06 Ghz (hmmmm...), 2 Gb Ram, Nvidia 6220SE graphics card. Triple boot between XP Home, Ubuntu and Vista Home Premium (I'm sure I left my credibility round here somewhere...).
It runs pretty well - XP is stable, Vista is sluggish and only on there as a curiosity, and Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) is currently giving me problems....
Laptop
Acer TravelMate 2201LMi. Celeron D 2.66Ghz, 786Mb Ram. Dual boot between Mepis and XP Home.
Add to the mix a couple of other very old desktops which I play with Linux on, and a couple of equally old iPaqs (one of which is destined to be flashed with Linux when I et round to it) and a Nokia N73 (which is perfect as it is...) and you have my hardware world.
